KeithnRita
I am considering buying a white dinner jacket for our upcoming cruise. I have the typical black tux, but have never owned or wore a white jacket. We have tons of formal photos with Rita in a variety of different gowns and me in the same old thing. Are they appropriate for Sept? (don't want to be arrested by the fashion police!) Which one would you vote for.
JoeyandDavid
David really keeps talking about wanting a white jacket too ... maybe we will .. but you know its another jacket to pack...but boy, Keith imo you would look good wearing one! cruiseduo
I have a black tuxedo but I has shrunk about two sizes since I bought it. So, I need to buy another, (or lose weight . . . . it's easier to buy another) I am going to opt for another black because most of our cruises will be either in the spring or fall. For the times we may go in the summer I'll just wear the black. Anyone know if they make a tuxedo in a stretchable fabric?
JoeyandDavid
Would a t shirt imprinted with tuxedo work?
Joanandjoe
Option 3- a dark suit. We cruise once a year most years, and half our cruises are on ships without formal nights. Joe last wore a tux more than 20 years ago; before that, his last tux (actually a white dinner jacket) was at our wedding in June, 1968. If he were a tux and dinner jacket person, he would buy a dinner jacket only if he did a lot of summer cruising; otherwise, he'd stick to black. Longboysfan
I have the Black Tux. But have bought a Black shirt and a blue bow tie and cumberbun to go along with it. I'm thinking of getting a red bow tie and cumberbun for the next trip. That way it does not always look the same. And White stains way too easy. TheSkipper
If you are crusing in the tropics a white dinner jacket will work anytime! About half the time I take mine together with the normal black tux. Makes two different looks for the formal nights. Also own several ties and cummberbund sets to change the looks and a couple of different shirts with different collar shapes. This way I can mix and match and not have the same look every formal night. I even have both single and double breasted tuxes and which one I take depends on how I feel when I'm packing. So, my advice is go ahead and get the white jacket.
sailingrose
I love a man in a Tux!!!! Dinner jackets are marvelous and a great way to change up mens outfits. My DH wore a white jacket for our summer wedding and he looked marvelous! He also wore a tux for our 20th anniversary and I love how he looked in it. He still doesn't own a tux but we have wanted to get him one. I think men look very sexy in them! JMHO
cruisetarp
Jim enjoys dressing up on our cruises and always wore his tux on both formal nights. Last year he bought a white dinner jacket and now he uses both if we have 2 formal nights. First formal night he wears the tux and second night he wears the dinner jacket. hamster92256
Keith - I'm thinking about the same thing, I bought my tux just before our last cruise and right now am also considering a dinner jacket and a combination of shirts and ties. I found a great place on ebay that sells things like that and will go ahead and purchase one at the end of the summer for our January cruise. ps what do the fashion police know, if it looks good do it!!!
