zebra
This is a question for Terumim or anyone else living or familiar with the port area of San Diego. We will be there in a few weeks on the Sun Princess and want to see the San Diego Zoo on our own. Is there a bus (and what is it's number) that one can catch at the pier that would take us to the Zoo? A bus time table would probably help us as well... also for the return trip. Also any tips for whilst we are at the Zoo? Thanks all you San Diegoites for your help....this will be our first trip there, we're very excited! JoeyandDavid
Jackie http://www.sandiegozoo.org/zoo/location.html Check with Tonia but I believe the trolley is available fairly close to the pier,...
zebra
I've checked this website but they do not have San Diego Port on their finder - so I still don't know if there is a bus or trolley that goes directly from the port to the Zoo - or do we have to walk a ways to a bus stop and which one would it be. Never having been there before it's all a little confusing.
Love2Travel
Jackie I am not sure about the trolley at the pier but you can walk a little bit and pick up the city bus to the zoo. Can't off hand remember the bus number, there are a couple that will take you to balboa park (where the zoo is located) I will see if I can find the info. Also, i wan tto tell you about this great little restaurant in the zoo. I will also have to look up the name. but the food is great and the outside dining is like you are in the middle of the wood. very nice and relaxing. The zoo is fun. Loved the pandas. Take the bus tour- either the on and off or the express for a god overview. how long are you in port? SD is such a great city! Gail

zebra
Thanks everyone - as always you're sooo helpful. Gail I'm still looking forward to hearing about the restaurant - sounds great. Yes the Panda and the Polar Bear exhibits are what I'm looking forward to seeing, we'll just be in San Diego for the one day. Too bad we'll only be able to do the Zoo but we will be RV'ing that way in the Spring '07 so hopefully we'll get to spend some quality time there. Love2Travel
Jackie, looks like Joey has you covered with the bus and trolley info. We took public transpotation (bus) to the zoo and a taxi back to our hotel which was located near the bay. I think ti was $12. After walking all day- it was nice just to hop in the cab right outside the zoo exit. ok- here is the link to Alberts the restaurant I was telling you about. We really enjoyed our restful stop at lunchtime. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/zoo/dining.html enjoy your planning! Gail
