What do you look forward to?

First a little about myself then the question!

Fav: Ships Caribbean Princess and Carnival Valor.

Right, enough about me!! My question to you all is; Whilst waiting to embark your ship,what do you look forward to most?

Is it lunch on the Lido deck or opening your cabin door for the first time? Is it walking out into the pool area and into a hot tub? Maybe the ship's drink of the day or grabbing a deck chair by the pool listening to the pool band? Could it be the Sail Away party or the Lifeboat Drill(yeah'right!!!!) What about checking out the fitness centre or going for a stroll along the promenade? I could go on and on (sigh)

However in my case it is the walk up the gangway and entering the ship for the first time. Seeing the ship's staff,atrium and adjacent lounges usually brings on a feeling of complete and utter happiness knowing this is going to be my home for the next 7 days or so.

My husband says for him it is seeing the ship for the first time, spotting it from a distance dwarfing the pier building. I'm with you, though, I like stepping on board, hearing "Welcome aboard" from the staff and looking up at the atrium, knowing it is finally here.

So many things but I think the best part is the Boat Drill! :cheesy: :grin: got everyones attention HUH! :grin: Its being Onboard finally after 11 long months finally leaving port with the Music going and the Air blowing in my face as Im at the Bow of the ship watching all the other poor souls waving bye to us with the Drink of the day in my hand and My wifes hand in my other one with a passionate kiss that we are finally together for a week with no bothers :grin:

Welcome to the board, James! Wow! You've asked a tough question!

I think for me, it's when I actually walk in our cabin and put down all our bags. THEN, I know I'm finally on vacation.

Of course I look forward to all the deee-licious food, but first I have to get to the cabin, put my things down and actually FIND the buffet! LOL!

Hubby has a fairly stressful job and I mainly look forward to the fact that he can fully relax and not think about the office. His blackberry won't work while cruising so the office can't bother him and he loves cruising, sightseeing and snorkeling so much, after a day or so, he becomes completely relaxed. I know how hard he works to support me and our lifestyle and I look forward to seeing that look come across his face that tells me he has set the office aside for the time being.

Hi, James, and welcome. I love the feeling that I get right after we check in and are walking to the gangway. My anticipation is at its greatest, and I probably get an adrenaline rush. I always think that something will go wrong at the check-in (even though it never has), and when it doesn't happen, I get a feeling of total relief. That's the exact moment my cruise starts. :grin:

For us I think it's the greeting.... once we board the hearty Welcome aboard and the offer of a glass of bubbly..

For me it is going to my cabin, plopping myself down on the bed and thinking I am finally here :smiley:

For me it is that first step from the gangway onto the ship. I love that feeling that I am no longer on solid ground.
