elfed
Hi Folks, We would like to have an idea on what beach to go to in Tortola next March. The HAL Shore/ex: doesn't list a lot of choices except Virgin Gorda which we have seen already. Do you happen to know of any companies in Road Town who run a reliable Tour. Or a cab company that can be hired. Any help will be appreciated. Beaches and Snorkelling are our "thing". Regards, James.
SCIROCCO
Hi James! Dont guess anyone knows about this Port! Do a Search on tours for Tortola, you should pull up something that you can look at!
schatje
We loved going to Virgin Gorda and got a special through Speedy's Ferry to eat at a restaurant for only $5 more for a $15 meal. If you can't find a suitable beach on Tortola check out Speedy's Fun N Sun Day. If cost us $35 pp last year and the restaurant was great. Joanandjoe
Mary and Andre, the real problem is that HAL arrives in Tortola (at least on our ship, the Noordam) at 3 p.m., and sunset is at 5:40 in November. By the time one would get to the Baths, it would be after 4 p.m., which wouldn't seem to leave enough time to be worth the effort. Joan and I have the same problem as James: no terrific HAL excursions, no recommended tour operators on the large cruise board, and a crazy time in port of 3 p.m. to midnight. We may just take a cab to a beach, then try some Road Town night life (if there is any). Does anyone know if Tortola is a tender port or a docking port? When we'll be there on 11/28 there will be two HAL ships in port, the Zuiderdam and the Noordam. A third ship, our favorite, the Regent Seven Seas Navigator, leaves at 3 p.m., when we arrive. KeithnRita
We've been there twice, and it had just rained both times. It is a docking port. The only thing we did, both times, is walk around and do some shopping at the straw market, which is very near the dock.
elfed
Thank you all for your help and advice.I did go to the B.V.I. web site and found 2 taxi excursions. Haven't yet decided on anything. Perhaps further research will be necessary to sort this out. Again, thanks for your help, Regards, James. Joanandjoe
Do you have the URL, James? I haven't yet found a good BVI web site.
JoeyandDavid
When we did Tortola, we too were on HAL, we did the Oosterdam ..if memory serves me HAL had an simple island tour ... in an open bus setting it was like 30 dollars a person.. and he drove you all over the island getting pictures of the wall that murals the story of the island...even giving you a chance for refreshments... Very simple tour as i recall .. but it was fun...

Joanandjoe
I'd appreciate that. On http://www.bvitourism.com/sightseeing-tours, all I can find are flight tours, not tour operators
