settingsailsoon
Hey fellow cruisers... Anyone traveling on Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas on 12/3 to Mexico with me? Anyone got info/advice for this trip/cruise line? Erica

settingsailsoon
We are leaving out of LA on 12/3 and returning 12/10. There are 8 of us traveling together (4 cabins total) on Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas. My husband and I are celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary a little early and decided that a cruise would be more fun with a big group so we invited ALL of our friends and family. We had 6 people sign up with us (timing was a challenge for anyone who's a teacher/student!) so we are traveling our friend Angela, her parents, our friends Ben & Brett (also celebrating their 5th anniversary) and our friend/cabin-mate Chris. It should be a lot of fun! I've been reading suggestions for packing, tips for traveling on a cruise and trying to find out the stuff about the ship that you can't find on the website. If you've any information or know where to search, I'd love to hear it! Erica
JoeyandDavid
Excellent Erica.. Sounds like a fun group...and a lot of anniversaries ... I can't help you a super lot on RCL as a cruiseline but will be more than happy to help with most things LA. Like hotels and transportation and maybe even resturants... Please ask anything you are trying to discover and I am sure together we can find your answers!! settingsailsoon
Thanks for the help! We are actually driving into southern CA the day before we leave and staying with my in-laws for the night. We'll be driving to the Port Sunday morning. How early do you recommend getting to the dock for boarding? How do cruises check in luggage? Should we be concerned about keeping a "carry-on bag" with us or should we simply "check" all of our bags in? Thanks! Erica
saltydog
Erica, Hi, We sailed the Vision last year in Alaska. We loved the ship, cabin, food and service. The shows were just so-so but that is subjective. As for your luggage you should keep a carry-on if you need meds or other personal items. Sometimes the luggage doesn't get to your cabin for a couple of hours after you have sailed. RCI does a good job with cruisers and you should have a good time. jbond
We are sailing Vision on October 29th. We will be driving to San Pedro on the Sunday morning and plan to arrive around 11:30. Previously we have had no trouble arriving at that time. We'll be leaving our car in the port parking area, $12 a day and they only accept cash, no cheques or credit cards. Have you been to any of the ports before? We've cruised the Mexican Riviera several times and really enjoy it. It's very different to the Caribbean. We haven't sailed Vision, but we have sailed Legend and Splendour twice before. They are the same class as Vision. It's a nice size ship, the dining room has all that RCI wow factor that their ships have. You should enjoy it. If you have any specific questions about the ports of call, I'd be happy to try and answer them.
