I just got back from the Gulf and saw Flying Fish! Yes, they take of out of the water and fly in the air just a few inches above the water for about 100 yards or so and then disappear back into the water!

I would have never believed it if I had not seen it with my own eyes!

Anyone else seen these guys before?

Hiya Byron!

I got some pictures of them but they are hard to see! We see them on all our cruises going to the Caribbean! The ships waves scare them out of the water and they jump out of the water and then their wings come out from their sides like a birds! They can fly over 50 Yards at times  Did you have problems with the high waves going out on Monday? Also did you hear about the fire in the Incinerator, the Holding tank messing up but it was a good cruise Ill post my review and you can post one too!

this is actually very common. Especially at night when you shine a light into the water. I have seen this on several videos but not in person.

I saw one of the Memphis television reporters doing a story on some carp that do that here. They were riding along in a boat and fish just started jumping in. Now that's my kind of fishing!!

Like Robert, we see them every time we cruise to the caribbean. We spend a lot of time, when at sea, sitting on the balcony with a cigar (hubby, not me) and a good book, and usually see them just about every day. They are fun to watch...
