Gregswife
Hi guys, You are always so knowledgeable, so I am hoping someone can answer this question. Greg and I love to snorkel and Grand cayman is one of our favorite places to do so. I don't really care for the sponsored tours because they usually take you out in a boat and anchor somewhere offshore. I ALWAYS get sick when snorkeling...I don't know if it is that I take in too much saltwater or the motion of the ocean or what, but we have discovered that beach snorkeling is best for us because I can get out and lay on the beach when I start feeling queasy. I have tried getting back in the boat on tours but any movement causes me to hurl and the boat usually has some up and down motion. Greg thinks it is great because there have been times I didn't make it back to land in time and "tossed my cookies" in the water and the fish just start swarming around me. Okay, enough of things you really didn't want to know - my question is this: we have always snorkeled in Grand Cayman at a place that is probably 2 blocks from the tendering pier. We get off the tenders, turn right and walk just a short ways. The place has a little outside cabana that rents lockers and there is also a business there. I think it is a bar but am not really sure about that. Grand Cayman has suffered hurricane damage since we were last there and we were wondering if anyone knew if this little place was still there. We are planning on snorkeling there on our next cruise and I was telling our friends who will be traveling with us about it. Greg said that sometimes hurricanes can possibly damage the coral reefs and that it may not be good snorkeling there and also, the place to rent lockers may be gone. Does anyone know. I would even call that business that is right there and ask them, but I have no idea what it is....
btate
 GregsWife, I was in Grand Cayman last week. I went and swam with the stingrays and it was one of those experiences I will remember for me the rest of my life. It was too choppy to snorkel there, but was fun to feed the stingrays and play with them. As for the little shack you are talking about, I bet it is there. I did not see any signs of a hurricane. Everything looked great and this is a wonderful island in my opinion. Not much help, but I think you will find what you are looking for. The reefs all looked in tact and the beaches were beautiful.
DaCruzNut
You might want to try the seasick wrist bands.... They run about $10.00 and really work!! No drugs, no side effects...
