A passport question

Hello,

So now i have my passport.......

Do i always carry it with me while in port?

Do i make copies and leave one at home, the original in the cabin and take a copy with me while in port?

What do you all do ?

We do just as you suggested - the original stays in the safe on the ship, a copy is always with us and another copy is left with our daughter along with our travelers checks numbers and our itinerary.

How do you make a copy of your passport and is it accepted as ID?

Maria - I simply scanned the inside front cover and first page, containing my photo and all my information. I then laminated it to keep it in one piece. I have been using it this way in ports for 3 years now and never had a problem.

It depends on the port. Some ports in Europe require that you have a passport.

It's best to take a copy of the passport with you and ask the cruise line if you need to take it with you. I usually take it with me because I sometimes wander off the beaten path.

while it is true that some parts of Europe will accept a photo copy of your passport especially if you have another govt issued picture ID (drivers License) It is always a great idea to make sure you protect the original in all cases .. gogetter the examples you provided in your OP sound like you have the correct handle to the situation!
