saltydog
Hi Crazies, A question if you please. I was wondering which cruise line is your favorite and why. I realize it may be hard to pin down one line because of different tastes and price considerations but in general which do you prefer. I notice that many board members seem to favor Carnival and RCI. I have never sailed Carnival but have done RCI twice and was pleased. I guess I'll start by saying my favorite at this point (and I have only done 9 so far) would be Holland America. The Rotterdam VI was, in my opinion, what I imagine classic liners might have been. Any thoughts please. Cheers Tim
KeithnRita
Holland was our favorite, however we now consider Celebrity a cut above. HAL has changed over the years, especially after going to auto tipping, and Celebrity has remained steady. The food and service has been outstanding based on two ships versus six on HAL. Our last HAL cruise was a repeat on the Zaandam and the great service we were accustomed to was downsized to just good service.
Gregswife
Tim, all of our past cruises, and our upcoming one have been Carnival. I guess we are just creatures of habit. We started with them when the kids were teenagers and traveled with us and even though they have been grown and gone for some time, we have stuck with Carnival. Suzila
I can't pin it down to a favorite. Every cruise we've taken has been a favorite. We've been on Carnival RCI Princess Norwegian Norwegian had the best food, but the ship was older, and we were going to Mexico, which is not our favorite destination. Princess was a step above, and we've been on that for Alaska and for the Panama Canal. RCI, we've gone to Mexico and to Alaska. It also, seems to be a step above Carnival, and while their staterooms are nice, they don't offer enough storage space. Carnival has the largest staterooms so far, and we've done Mexico and the Caribbean...neither of which is our favorite destination. Carnival is a lot of fun, with more activities than the other ships offer, and a younger clientele.
mercedes
All of our cruises so far have been with Carnival, with our next 2 cruises with them also, no complaints whatsoever.
Mebert
The vast majority of my cruises have been with Carnival and I like that line very much. I had a very negative experience with another line that is still not resolved and I don't know if I will ever sail that line until the situation is resolved. sailingrose
I have sailed Princess, Carnival, HAL, Celebrity and RCI as well as a few lines no longer in business. Won't sail on Carnival again. 2 bad experiences was enough. Liked HAL but the crowd seemed too old for us. Food pretty good. Celebrity, same as HAL with great food. Princess is my choice for total rest. Food was good Our favorite is RCI for many reasons, mostly the crew and the ships themselves. Plenty to do or not do and since I'm a frequent cruiser I get great perks. Food is only OK. I'll try any lin once or twice. I still have more lines to experience and look forward to all of my cruises.
Jimmykaboots
Princess cruise lines for sure! They have an excellent teen room, delicious food, service is pretty good, and so many fun teen activities. The teen room was totally rad, since it had six PS2 game consoles inside with really up to date games. It also had this nice giant screen projector tv on the wall and a jukebox. The room had a bar and a dance floor too, too bad no one was working at the bar though. Met many great friends there too, whenever we got bored we'd go play video games and that ship didnt have as many "raves" as the freedom so I'm happy. :)
TheSkipper
Let's see, 9 Carnival Cruises, 12 RCI, 20 Princess and 7 Celebrity. So, based on bookings Princess seems to be our favorite. However, our next two cruises are with Carnival and RCI. Go figure??
Shari2
Celebrity is my favorite. I like the ships, the rooms are a decent size, the service is great, the food is great, no announcements over the loud speaker about bingo, etc., and there's enough to keep you busy or enough quiet time if that's what you are looking for. My next cruise, next September, will be on "Carnival Liberty." We haven't been on Carnival since 1984, and I've heard that today's ships are great and the food and service is much improved, so we are going on a group cruise with some friends.
