Since the awards program was established in 1999, Carnival has taken home an unprecedented 83 Readers Choice Awards. This year Carnival was the top vote-getter in a wide variety of categories. Carnival's 2006 Readers choice Awards include: - Best Value-For-The-Money Line - Best Short-Duration Cruise - Best Shore Excursions - Best Onboard Activities - Best Main Dining Room Cuisine - Best Computer Facilities - Best Children's Programs - Best Entertainment - Best Caribbean Itineraries - Best Mexican Riviera Itineraries - Best Party Cruise "At Carnival we make it our goal to exceed our guest's expectations, and having been recognized in such a vast number of categories in Porthole magazine's 2006 Readers Choice awards is not only a tremendous honor, but also validates our continued efforts to evolve the Carnival vacation experience," said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO. "It is obvious that the readers of Porthole Cruise Magazine have been exceedingly pleased with their experiences aboard Carnival Cruise Lines," said Bill Panoff, publisher and editor-in-chief of the magazine. "To see so many awards go to the cruise line drives home the fact that Carnival is serious about passenger satisfaction. I congratulate them on all of their wins this year." Carnival is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 21 "Fun Ships" operating voyages ranging from three to 16 days in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, New England, Canada, Bermuda and Europe. The line currently has three new ships on order – the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom, scheduled for delivery in March 2007, the 112,000-ton Carnival Splendor slated to enter service in spring 2008, and an as-yet-unnamed 130,000-ton SuperLiner – to be the largest "Fun Ship" ever constructed – set to debut in fall 2009.
