I agree that Valentine's Day is incredibly over-commercialized, But the Christmas advertising starts before Labor Day now. One of the reasons that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday is that it really has yet hasn't gotten very commercial at all (plus all the football). For most of us, it still remains a real family day (plus all the football)

I agree...it's Valentine's Day, with Christmas a very close second.

Valentine's Day used to be nothing spectacular. Now, if you don't come across with diamonds or something really expensive, you're Persona non grata. Hubby and I don't give each other big gifts for Valentine's Day. We usually go out to dinner, or something like that, maybe chocolates.

Hey all,

I chose Christmas because eventhough Valentine's day is commercialised, really only Florists. greeting Cards, Jewelry and Candy people prosper. Now, Christmas; if an Alien were to come down not knowing anything about us....they would swear that the United States economy was based on the sucess or failure of the Holiday season (mainly Christmas)...... Just ask CNN!

I would say Christmas is the most commercialized. I'm not sure if it's over commercialized because the advertisers only have the power over us that we give them.

Some of the displays help me get into the season. It's great to see the decorations and the special display windows of the large department stores celebrating the season.

I don't mind the commercialism because it keeps many people employed and it even offers parttime jobs to some unemployed people during the season.
