TheSkipper
Just got our airline tickets for our March cruise aboard the Glory. Using Southwest frequent flyer points, but the selection for our return flight on March 31st is already lousy. Had to book a three stop local to get back to Las Vegas from Orlando. Roe's sister is looking at over $800 for the two of them from Phoenix and return. Thought I was getting this done in plenty of time -- WRONG! So check into you Air soon. Gregswife
I recently booked flights for my family to Lubbock, TX. I was going to go with Southwest, but they told me that anything out of Denver via their airline, unless it was to Phoenix or Vegas, would have to go thru Kansas City, then to Dallas, then to Lubbock. As they don't fly directly to Lubbock from here, it would require 2 tickets, one to Dallas and then one to Lubbock. I checked Travelocity, CheapTickets, Orbitz and Continental's website. The cheapest I could find for 4 tickets was $1800. I decided to check American Airline's website, even though their flights on the travel websites was pretty high, and I discovered that the fares on their site were much cheaper than the discount sites listed. I got each ticket for $274 round trip.

Gregswife
The only time we have flown Southwest was about 18 yrs. ago. We were going to fly from Dallas to Disney World later that summer, and the kids had never flown, so we really wanted to "introduce" them to it on a much shorter flight, so we flew from Dallas to Tulsa to visit family. It was an hr. long flight and I don't really remember much about it. I just couldn't get past them telling me that this trip, I would have to buy 2 tickets each way. We would have had to leave Denver at 6:00 in the morning and not arrive in Lubbock until a little past 4:00. As Lubbock is not a big airport, we do still have to fly to Dallas and change to a smaller plane with American, but we leave here at 8:30 and arrive in Lubbock at 2:00. Of course, part of the time difference was sitting on the ground in Kansas City for 3 hrs. and would have had to do the same on the way home. It is about a 500 mile trip for us, so we could have driven it in less time than Southwest could have gotten us there. And Southwes was going to cost us more... TheSkipper
I fly Southwest a lot around the Western states on business, thus our free tickets. Can't think of a better way to fly to a cruise than to fly free! They are kind of a cattle car, but once on board are no worse than any other airline and they are one of the only airlines who is making money. What I hit was Spring Break in Florida, so shame on me for planning to go there at that time. Checked Orbitz and some of the other sights and flights to Florida at that time of year are filling fast and prices are through the roof. Oh well, got our tickets, not exactly what we wanted, but as I said above the price was right.

btate
I have found that many airlines have so many restrictions on FF miles, that they are very difficult to use. I have learned to hate Delta. I have always loved to fly Southwest. The people who take care of you seem to be just a little nicer. . . At any rate, FF miles are very over rated in most cases. Too much effort to try to use them. That said, I use them every time I fly for a cruise as I travel out of Salt Lake City.
elva
i signed up with southwest "ding" program and it offers "cheap" rates but you have hours to buy them. when we flew to tampa from corpus christi to our miracle cruise we got flight for 44 plus taxes. you just have to know when you you want to fly elva
