eagleforest
On my next cruise I will be going to the infamous Concierge Lounge but I hope to get into via an error in the cruise booklet. This will be cruise number 9 even though it should be 10. But is it really worth the hype? I go to all the Free drinking parties. Welcome aboard (Free Drinks) Welcome Back (free Drinks) Art Auction (Free Champagne) Wine Tasting (with free coupon) Platinum / Diamond Lunch (free drinks) Ok yes I am a lush when I can get a free drink. But I hear that if I walk in being a Platinum yet I am in a suite. Some Diamonds think its all theirs. (Just some not to start anything.) The way I look at it is: If I book the Owners Suite and its my first cruise I get the CL because I just forked out big $$$$$. But then there are DIAMOND members that earned there way to the CL. IS IT REALLY ALL THAT? After this cruise we will be at 9 credits and we have Liberty of the Seas booked in the fall. Would it be worth squeezing in another cruise during the summer to be a true DIAMOND by the time I sail on the Liberty in November? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.[/size] Arvids
cruisetarp
Arvids - While the Concierge Lounge is a nice perk I do not see it as a MUST have. It is usually quite crowded during cocktail hour. I mostly enjoy it early in the morning for breakfast and a quiet cup of coffee before my day begins. I do enjoy sitting and chatting with fellow cruisers and exchanging ideas but I can do that anywhere on the ship. I am Diamond but in no way do I feel this lounge is "All Mine". In fact I have occasionally found "attitude" from the Suite people. I have only used this lounge on the Voyager class ships where it's location offers no windows. If I could sip a glass of wine while watching the ocean (as I understand it is on ships other than the Voyager class ) I might use it more. Enjoy your cruise! JoeyandDavid
i guess it would depend if your inside looking out or outside looking in?
sailingrose
I'm Diamond plus with RCI and the concierge lounge used to be a very nice perk but it is way too crowded these days. I have rarely used the concierge in the past and will continue to do my own work. Yes, it's nice and it's special in the beginning especially when the concierge actuallly served you however with the overcrowding and the use of 2 lounges it's not all that anymore. Maybe I'm just spoiled. My DH and I go a few times during the week but I too use it mostly in the morning for coffee and danish.
