Shari2
Joey...American Hawaii was an American flagged line sailing 7-day cruises between the islands. They had two ships, the "Constitution" and the "Independence". They were older ships that were built in the 1950s, and were built for Atlantic crossings. The "Constitution" which we were on, is the ship that carried Princess Grace and her entourage to her wedding to Prince Rainer. Lucille Ball also did one of her "I Love Lucy" shows from the ship. At the time that we went on the "Constitution" it was in pretty bad shape. It hadn't been kept up very well, but we knew that going on her; at the time, it was still the best way to see the islands without having to fly to each island and pack and unpack. One thing I didn't like about the ship was that all the public rooms except one that had been turned into a small gym, were at the aft of the ship. If I'm remembering right, I think it used to have classes...like first class passage and second class passage.
