JoeyandDavid
If you had the power at your favorite cruiseline,... by what guidelines would you choose to dry dock and change the decor of your ships .. Would it be after a certain number of passengers have sailed? Maybe it would be the length of time it was in service? What would determine for you the necessity to do a make over?[/size]<]
Mebert
I would do a makeover if the decor started to look dated and frayed or if the equipment was not up to par or unsafe.
westernmom
I think that even waiting for the style of decor to change might not be soon enough with the thousands of people that are sailing constantly. A brand new ship could start looking pretty worn fairly soon if not kept up well. I think the wear and tear would be a major determining factor. I would imagine that the make-up of the passengers would also make a difference. If you have younger crowds you would probably have much more upkeep. Styles and colors do change, but sometimes that is the charm of a place is that it retains it's own personality and doesn't always follow trends. elfed
You guys ask some awesome questions!! I mean I could take days answering this one. I think I'll just list a FEW of my thoughts: 1. All of my ships to have a pool at the stern with adequate deck chairs 2. No smoking anywhere except at a designated outdoor bar. 3. Every stateroom to have a partitioned toilet/shower-similar to some NCL and Disney ships. 4. Like other posters-a good form of carpeting that is hard wearing and durable 5. More security guards especially around pool areas making sure pool and hot tub rules are followed. 6. Entertainment at poolside to be "destination themed" and of much better quality. 7. Cruise Director and their staff should be far more passenger friendly Well anyway that'll do for now. I'll continue on with the other 400 items later.(Joking, joking) Regards, James.
