Some people say they have to be as close to the center of the ship as possible ..others say I don't care just let me on board...others say aft or pass...

What about you and your traveling companions.. Is there a favorite location when choosing a stateroom for a cruise?.. Have you ever decided NOT to cruise because they didn't have an "acceptable" Cabin or Cabin Location available?[/size]

We usually like midship on deck 7, this cruise we have booked a aft side extended balcony for $719.00 PP including Prepaid Gratuties, taxes and fees! We kept checking and got it at the right time! We havent tried a aft cabin some say the propellers vibrations are rough but we will see we are on deck 7 on the Conquest  Id never not cruise if I couldnt get what I wanted a cruise is a cruise! :wink2:

We really enjoy the peace and quiet of the aft balconies. It's a longer walk to your cabin but that allows for that 2nd dessert. LOL. There is less foot traffic back there and the balconies are huge. However, I would never NOT sail because there was not one available - in fact on our August cruise we have a mid-ship balcony on deck 8 right across from the girls going with us.

We always book a mid-ship cabin, so we do not feel the up and down motion as much. We have been in one of the cabins at the front and I felt way more movement than I was comfortable with. Years ago, they let us pick our cabin number when we booked at no charge, but the past few cruises, we have had to pay a $100 fee to do so. I picked our stateroom this time based on the floor plan (exactly mid-ship) , but after booking, I realized that we will be directly under the pool area on the Lido deck. I called our agent at Carnival and she she had recently sailed on the Conquest and was in the same area as we will be, and she did not hear the noise from above...I hope she's right as that is where the late night parties, bands, dancing, etc. will be taking place late into the night.

We prefer midway top to bottom and midway fore to aft. However, having said that we booked this trip (Star Princess Jan. 20th) on short notice for us (October) and the only requirement was that we have a balcony and get a deal. We are sailing with two other couples and one took a guarantee balcony and wound up on Aloha aft. The other paid more money to be on Aloha and wound up fairly forward. We got a steal and are on Emerald forward E206. We are over the theater but by the time we go to bed the shows will be over and nothing doing there too early in the morning. And we are not seasick prone people. Should be great! Any day at sea is a perfect day!

I usually go for a cabin on one of the lower decks, midships. More stable and shorter distance to get most anywhere. The only exception is if we come across a great deal on a balcony, then we will move up a few decks.

We have NEVER not gone on a cruise because we could not get the cabin or area we wanted. Have been all the way aft and all the way forward at times and did not bother us a bit. I am very careful however about what is above and below the stateroom we are considering. Normally most folks do not want to be above or below a food serving area or an entertainmet venue, such as the disco, showroom, etc.

Forward, aft, above or below. Doesn't matter to me. My only preference would be to

have an ocean view or balcony. Don't care for inside cabins. Like to see where I am.

We have been in aft cabins and never were bothered by prop noise. Just love being

at sea.

Cheers
