gymbrat33
I cruised solo once on spring break on Carnival. I paid $800 for the week. I had an awesome time and met a lot of people on the ship.
TheSkipper
I just put together a group cruise for January 2008 and blocked 45 rooms including 6 singles. BTW, I am not a TA and this is not an add, just want you to know they do exist on Carnival.

cherole
I just booked a cabin for my mom to accompany me and my husband for a cruise. It is nearly double. We're hoping she'll find a friend to come along. You pay for the cabin as double, but not some of the taxes & port charges, so it's about 80% more in cost vs. 100%. Definitely not like a hotel. DaCruzNut
I've sailed solo on several cruises. The Regal Empress has 4 single cabins, so no problem there with simgle supplements. The single rate in the single cabins is the same as the per person rate in the doubles. But, the ship only does two-night cruises. Because I live near the ports (Miami/Ft. Laud) I usually book 'last minute.' My PVP at Carnival is happy to fill a cabin, at that late date, so she books me at the lowest, inside, cheapest cabin, adds th 50% surchrage and the upgrades me to an outside, sometimes a balcony if ones still available. It's fun, sometimes, to sail alone. You get to talk to people at mealtimes; and at various bars around the ship. But, you get 'alone-time' where you can do whatever you want, or not....[/size]
gymbrat33
Carnival has the least expensive single supplement.
JohnG
Both Princess and Holland America offer a single share program. You pay a single rate and they try to match you with a person of the same sex and approximate age. If they don't match you, you get the room to yourself at the single price, not a single supplement (added charge) price. I have a male on a HAL transatlantic and a single female on a HAL Mexican Riviera booked that way. He has done it several times.
