westernmom
I have to tell you that I am an ironing freak and I was totally stressed about our clothes being wrinkled on the cruise so I packed the Downey Wrinkle Releaser, steamer, etc. and then found that between the humidity and the "Hey, I'm vacation" that it didn't bug me near as much as at home! I did go down to the service service and iron a couple of Frank's shirts but that was it!!! I also found that our dress clothes were the easiest items. Maybe because they were all packed in plastic and I had purchased a nice rolling garment suitcase.
sailingrose
The hamper I use I empty every few days into the suitcase. It prevents the sofa from becoming the laundry basket.....LOL! Downy Wrinkle Release is the best!
hazelson
We always use the big zip lock bags. We got some huge ones from Big Lots - 18" by 22". They are terrific. great for dirty laundry. But the smaller ones are great for day packing - as has been suggested. All the day's necessities in one bag - times 7. Couldn't be easier. But you still have to watch the weight of the bags lol. We also use a collapsible hamper - $ 1 store - works great.
nightshade
This is our third cruise and it is for two weeks to the Panama Canal. I am very worried about packing for two weeks. You all have given me some great ideas. Thanks

Suzila
I bought the Space Bags for storage here in the house. I was able to get them to go completely flat, with the vacuum, and under my bed is now an extra quilt, 4 pillows, and a blanket, all in one bag. HOWEVER! The bag filled back up with air, so it's extremely tough to get out from under the bed everytime i need something. Thus, I would not recommend the Space Bags. A major disappointment for me. When we're on the cruise, we put our dirty clothes in a drawer. Then, when we pack to go home, we just flatten everything, doesn't matter whether it's folded or not, and put it back in the suitcase. When I get home, I wash everything anyway, whether we've worn it or not. I can't stand the smell from a suitcase, so everything gets cleaned again when we get home. Gregswife
I always take a couple of plastic blags for the dirty clothes and it is usually on the floor of the closet. I have a nylon suitcase that folds completely flat and I usually pack it in the bottom of another bag, and then I throw all the laundry in that bag when we are ready to leave the ship. westernmom
I agree with the smell from the suitcases, hotel rooms, etc. So, I just throw a couple of Bounce dryer sheets in each suitcase. They also come in handy if you experience static cling - just rub on your garments and it usually takes it out.
Gregswife
Jeannette, that's a great idea - gonna' try it next time. I do leave the bounce all over the place in the motorhome when we store it away for the winter.
mercedes
That is a great idea, Jeannette, I just added it to my packing list.
