nmrizzo
Has anyone taken the Natural Wonders of St Maarten tour? My sister and I are traveling on Carnival Triumph in ten days and were looking for any info about this tour. Thanks
GottaCruz
nmrizzo, I haven't taken that tour but we loved the Triumph. We're glad to have you as a member and hope to see you posting here often.
SMB
I have not taken the tour. However, I spend a week each year on St. Maarten (Love the Island!) and I feel pretty secure saying skip the tour. Use the money to rent a car and explore on your own. Most of the island is easily toured on your own with roads going to most coastlines and even into the mountains. You will see plenty of nature from the car and it is easy to pull off the road an explore a bit closer on your own (I'm a shutterbug, so I do this all the time. This is "the Friendly Island" so 95% of the time you are completely safe). If you really want to get up close and personal, there is a zoo on the island with all the local critters or you could go to the butterfly farm at Orient Beach (morning is the best time). There is just too much to do and EAT on the island that I'd save the nature tours for another place. If you would like more St. Maarten tips, let me know. SMB
nmrizzo, Will this be your first time to St. Maarten? If not, what have you seen before? I assume you are a nature lover. Is there anything else I should know to help narrow down tips for you? SMB

westernmom
We took a tour with Sunny Liston that covered the island, included time for shopping, and a few hours at a beach of our choice. It was a highlight of our cruise. We laughed and sang the whole day! We also were on the Triumph!

JohnG
I agree, rent a car. We have done it there many times. The rental booths are right at the pier. One excursion we did do that I enjoyed was http://www.stmaarten-shoretrips.com/lordsheffield/ There were about 8 passengers and we sailed and barbequed and then stopped to snorkel. Great time.
