Oh my God, Stephen. You and Jenn must have nerves of steel. Now that is what I call determination and of course energy. Your dad is amazing to have thought of that plan. While reading that, I didn't think you would make it.... glad you did after all that.

By the way, you are some heck of a writer. You really need to submit that to , at the least, Reader's Digest , or write a book one day about your experiences. Your words just flow and I'm eagerly awaiting for the next chapter. Cheryl

Stephen, that had me on the edge of my seat wondering if you were going to make it. I wanted to go on a cruise for so many years, but Greg always said "what in the world would I do on a boat for a week, if I can't fish off of it?". I finally gave him a cruise as a "gift" and paid for it out of my money, so he reluctantly went along (kids went too). The first night out, he told me he had been wrong and that it was a wonderful way to travel. Our last cruise, we sailed out of San Juan. We had flown to Ft. Lauderdale the morning before to spend a day there before flying on to Puerto Rico. Our plane was supposed to leave Ft. Lauderdale at 12:00 and land in San Juan at 2:30 - the ship did not sail until 10:00 pm so we thought we had plenty of time. Our flight kept getting delayed and we checked and there was no other flight on any other airline that we could get on. Finally, many many hrs. late, American Airlines allowed us to board. We knew that 9:30 was the latest we could board the ship and it was 9:18 by my watch when we stepped out of the airport to get a cab. Greg told the driver there was an extra $25 in it for him if we made it in time. We did, and there was not a single person in line at the port so we sailed right thru. I looked at my watch as we stepped on the ship and it said 9:31. I will never fly into the departure city the same day again. I am anxiously looking forward to Part 2 of your story....

Thanks guys for the replys. Cheryl, I'm so glad to hear about your adventure. Not that I want you to stress about missing the ship, but I'm glad to know there are others who have had to pay the cab driver a little extra to board on time. I'm sure the AA people hated seeing you approach the counter by the end of the day. I can't believe it took that long to get out of Miami without a hurricane. Anyway, part two of the saga begins as soon as I finish grading these papers.
