hamster92256
Our first cruise was for our 25th anniversary, Karen told me we going on a cruise or she was going without me(and I would still have to pay for it). Grudgingly I went along, not quite kicking and screaming, and it took all of about 15 minutes to figure out how wrong I was. We've been on 2 more since and are planning another for next year. Lisa63
Our first cruise was on our honeymoon in 1990. It was a four-night cruise from Port Canaveral to Nassau and a private island (Blue Lagoon Island... still the best!) onboard Premier's Atlantic. I was in my mid-20s at the time. But it wasn't my first ship. That would have been SS Rotterdam in the early 1970s, when we boarded to see off my grandparents. They were going on a cruise from NYC to Nassau and Freeport. I wish I remembered more about the ship as I grew up to become a liner nut, and this ship was a classic. Although I was young on that first cruise, I was actually well-traveled by then. My parents were teachers, and every summer we would take a long trip somewhere. By the time I was 20, I had been to about 35 U.S. states as well as several areas within Canada, Mexico, and Israel. I think travel is a wonderful gift to share.

jwwaldrops
Hi Gregswife, No. We are booked on April 22-29. Is this your first time on the Conquest? Janis
Gregswife
Yes, it will be our 11th Carnival cruise but the first time on the Conquest. You will be sailing much sooner than the others of us here booked on that ship. I have been on the Fantasy twice, the Destiny 3 times, Imagination, Triumph, Victory twice, and the Spirit. elva
our first cruise was oct 2001 on the celebration and for a while there i thought we might not go as it was so close after 9-11. family and friends kept telling us to cancel and i told them i was going and the only way i was not going was if cruise line canceled. now the reason to try a cruise was that i grew up with very little-- we did not travel, no theme parks etc. i was 19 or 20 when my hubby took me to astroworld and that was the first time i had done anything like that. after i had my son i decided i was going to do everything and take him with me-- had him flying in an airplane at about 18 months. did the train cross county when he was 3, 4, and 5, went on a very short bus ride so then i decided it was too soon to do an international destination so i chose a cruise as my son was 5 in 01. now he is 10 and had been on 3 cruises. we still take other vacations but i love cruising and do not plan to give it up. Sunbeam
I don't know how we got started (I don't swim, scared of water, scared of heights). I guess it must have been the "Love Boat". Our first cruise was on the Azur (Chandris which became Celebrity) in 1989, that was converted from a ferry boat to a cruise ship (18,000 tons) -- that was a rough cruise. We thought it was sooooo big. LOL. until we saw the Celebration (45,000 tons) in San Juan. LOL. We did another one in 1991 and we stopped we thought it was so expensive and started again 2003, 2 in 2004, one 2006, another one in March 2007 and planning another one in November 2007. I guess we are hooked. We love the change of scenery, the pampering and not having to move the luggage.
SMB
Sunbeam, are you my wife and joined this forum without my knowing? Those are the EXACT points used by my wife to get me to go on a cruise. Now I use them!
