So what do you think of them. Do you attend them or skip them. They are a highlight of my cruise. I like the free drinks and food they pass around. But then again Im kinda cheap like that. I am talking about Carnival, Im not real sure if other cruise lines offer them or not. I am not well rounded on other cruise lines so I am open to hear about them also.

After so many cruises, we normally pass on these "events". There are so many people there they have become pretty meaningless to us. :rolleyes2:

Not to put a damper on them for others, there was a time when we looked forward to them, but that seems to have passed as the ships got larger.

Like Skipper, we normally pass on them. We went to a couple, some years ago, and they were just too crowded, with nowhere to sit. Now, everytime, we get the invitation under the door, we think about it for about 30 seconds and then say "nah". Will be passing it up on the upcoming cruise also as we are traveling with friends who have never been on Carnival so will not be invited. We have only been on Carnival, so I don't know if other lines have them also, but I would imagine they do.

We went to the one on Royal Caribbean this past summer, and the hors d'oeurves were good. We don't drink, so the punch they served was not great. They also gave out very nice tote bags to all who attended.

There wasn't a past guest party on our quickie 3 day Carnival cruise last week, but there was a captain's party, which we skipped.

I think the best ones are the Latitudes member parties aboard NCL. They are first class! Instead of walking around with trays of watered-down drinks, bar waiters walk around and take orders for bar drinks. Anything you'd like... And, the hors douvres are really good.

The past passenger parties are new on Carnival, and they are getting better.

However, I always try to attend just because they're fun..

We have attended some, but if we have something else going we skip it. We skipped the one on our last cruise and then found out that the captain was there, and they had a nice orchestra, etc. Wished we had gone to that one.

Thanks for the replies, I was amazed at the amount of people who do skip them. I have heard it stated before that these ships are gettins such large numbers of past guest cruisers they are getting overcrowded. Maybe they need to step up the criteria or have a second party. One for past guest, and then a seperate one for guest who has 5 cruises behind them.
