cruisetarp
The majority of our cruises are on Royal Caribbean and we do not attend their Crown & Anchor party early on in the cruise - much too crowded, etc. However later in the cruise they have a separate party for the higher levels of C & A and we do usually attend that one. It is not nearly as crowded and you usually get to spend time talking to the different ship officers who attend. They generally have a very nice buffet type set up and plenty of drinks to go around. KeithnRita
If they fit our schedule we go. On our last cruise on the Zenith we did go and they had the usual appetizers and cocktails. They also took orders from a limited menu of bar drinks.
sailingrose
We cruise mostly RCI too and like Mary Lou we skip the early parties and go to the Crown and Anchor parties. It's wonderful to mix with the officers and find out new things about the company. We're also interested in this since we own stock.
Dan
On our first cruise, on HAL, which was our honeymoon, they had the honeymooners get together with the past guests. It was a rather small group (with 1200 people on the cruise), so it was nice to be able to chat with the officers, and have pics taken. We went to the past guest party on Carnival in 2001. Because of 9-11 the previous week, it also was a small affair, but we had the free drinks and eats. Didn't meet the captain at that one. They did give a quick rundown of the new ships coming out. We really enjoyed the one on Princess last year. Lots of people. It was held on formal night right before first seating dinner. Free drinks and appetizers again. Then they ran down the list of new ships, and made presentations to the people with the most number of cruises on Princess. Had pics taken with the captain. zebra
After attending so manyof these parties we've decided to give them a miss now. Too many people and too much of the same old, same old. On Celebrity and HAL you can get free hors d'oevres in the lounges in the evenings.
