I would like to know if anyone has been on a western caribbean cruise out of Mia ( Grand Cayman, Roatan,Belize & Costa maya) and a eastern cribbean out of Mia ( San Juan, St Thomas, & St Martin). If you have been on both, in your opinion which one did you enjoy the most? We are planning a cruise for Jan 2008 and not sure which one we would like to do. We know we want nice weather and shopping.

We have been on both, our first to Western on the Valor, Eastern on the Triumph(last week). Both were great but we preferred the Eastern. Might be that it is so fresh.

Thanks for your imput. I am leaning towards the eastern cruise on the Valor . Some of the poeple that will be traveling on this cruise just took one and they were told by other cruisers that on the eastern cruise the seas a rougher and not as warm as the western caribbean . Do you find this to be true?

As some of your criteria are nice weather and shopping, I'd recommend the Eastern Caribbean itinerary you described. St. Thomas and St. Maarten, in particular, have good shopping -- but do some research on pricing before you go so that you know whether or not you are getting a good deal.

As far as the seas, that can vary from week to week. I'll have to let someone else field the warm weather part. I'm from New England -- 70F is hot to me, lol.
