A Momentous Achievement: New York City Woman Sails on 100th Carnival Cruisealt textalt text

MIAMI — When Alzoria Jones boarded Carnival Cruise Lines' Fascination last month, she stepped into the "Fun Ship" record books. The voyage marked her 100th Carnival cruise.

To put her achievement in perspective, Jones has sailed on 100 cruises since 1991, roughly a cruise every other month for 15 years.

Jones took her first Carnival cruise aboard the Fantasy, and since then has cruised multiple times each year. While she says she doesn't have a favorite port, the warm weather of the Caribbean keeps her coming back to the region time and again. She also shows no favoritism toward a specific Carnival ship and has sailed on many, including the newest, Carnival Liberty.

"We extend our heartfelt congratulations and join in celebrating with Mrs. Jones as she reaches this significant milestone," said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO. "The fact that we have guests who keep coming back again and again is a testament to the dedication of all of our shoreside and shipboard employees in providing guests with the ultimate vacation experience."

The 83-year-old grandmother of 13 spends her time on board enjoying the nighttime entertainment, which she calls "fabulous," as well as walking around the ship and participating in afternoon activities. She likes to stay on board in port most of the time and simply enjoy the ship.

As for her devotion to the line, she says she has tried other lines, but it isn't the same as when she vacations on Carnival.

"I keep cruising with Carnival because they treat me the way I like to be treated, I feel at home and the staff on board remember me, which means a lot," said Jones.

Jones is the second Carnival passenger to achieve the 100-cruise milestone. The first was Frances Mendin in October 2005.

Carnival is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 21 "Fun Ships" operating three- to 16-day voyages to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles. The line currently has three new ships scheduled for delivery between now and 2009.
