btate
Joey, Your review seems like the ship experience was mostly negative, but the scenery and canal were amazing. I look forward to sailing through the Panama Canal in a few years or so. What a fun experience. As for the ship, I have never sailed Carnival, but have heard similar experiences from many who have sailed with them as far as being clean and the 'little' details. Perhaps that is why I have not chosen them yet. I have only sailed RC and even though the ships were not the newest, I was VERY impressed with the shape of the ship. I will be sailing Princess in a couple weeks as to be well versed on the different lines so I can one day pick a favorite and make sure I am not missing anything that appeals to my own taste. Thanks for the review, you are a good writer. I enjoyed reading your experience.
Mebert
JoeyandDavid, Thank you for such a detailed review. I'm sorry that the Summit did not meet your expectations but I'm glad that you enjoyed the specialty diningroom and the Panama Canal. Your observations and report to the personnel in charge will probably help the passengers on the next departure have a better experience. I hope you have a better on board experience the next time you cruise the Summit.

cherole
I concur with Joey that my Summit experience fell slightly short of Millennium. But, all was still great and I wouldn't hesitate to choose Celebrity in the future. One thing I have to mention, but unlike Joey, didn't have the nerve to complain about. Now, I'm not trying to sound bougeois here, but I had a problem with our stateroom attendant's body odor. I realize they work hard and we're in a warm climate, etc. But after he'd come and go, the odor would linger in the room. Thank goodness we had a veranda to air it out. I'm not sure if it's lack of deodorant, or just plain hard work, but it was a little annoying. One area where we got a lot of attention was at the main dining room, excellent on all fronts. One night, I posed the question (not complained mind you) about why they go to all of the bother to have Sommelier's, but don't use proper wine glasses for particular wines. You know what I mean?? They could just have the waiters serve the wine. But, a sommelier is pretty upscale to me, so I expect a proper glass for whatever I'm drinking. OK, maybe a little bougeois here, but I do live near wine country and it's a hobby of mine. Anyway, after making the comment, I had all of the appropriate glasses my heart desired and a lot of attention for the supervisor of Sommeliers. Ciao for now.
