Have you ever had something come up missing in your cabin? I have not heard any horror stories on cruise ships, but my cousin had hidden money stolen in her hotel room. I remember coming back from shopping on an island, I picked up some beach towels cheap and after they went thru the scanner, a man grabbed my package. Thank God, I did not spend that much for them, but I really thought they were nice for the money. He never turned them in, after knowing they did not belong to him and the cruise ship would not do anything. Maybe it was out of their hands. How could I prove I bought them, duh..... Other than that, I have not had any bad missing item experiences.

After all the cruises we've been on, we've never had anything missing from our cabin. My DD did leave her brand new ipod on a table on the Lido deck, got up for a minute to get something and when she returned , it was gone. We filled out a form but , of course, nothing happened. It was her fault., though. Hopefully she learned a lesson, an expensive one. Someone ended up with a nice ipod with 1,000 songs to listen to.

The only time we have ever had anything taken was when a candle we had in the cabin was gone - but there was a note from the room steward that it was taken as candles present a fire hazard onboard and we could reclaim it at the purser's desk at the end of the cruise, but it certainly wasn't worth messing with. All valuables are always kept in the safe in the cabin.

I always use the cabin safe and so far all has been fine. However my wife had her wallet picked out of her purse when we were in Vegas. It happened while we were waiting for a bus. Someone engaged or should I say distracted us in a nice conversation while the other did the dirty deed. It caused us alot of stress but we lost little monetarily and of course we were not responsible for the fraudelent CC usage. Interestlingly someone found discarded items like pics of our son with Santa, local video store cards etc. by an interstate in Las Cruces N.M. and we did get them back from the local PD who was contacted by whoever found them. Then, amazingly about two mos. later we got a call from a JC Penneys store in Las Cruces. Some idiot was using my wifes Penneys card. Why was she an idiot? Well the salesperson noted its wasn't her card and she replied it belonged to her aunt who had given her permission to use it. The sales girl told her she had to verify this and the girl did NOT leave the store while this was being done! Amazing. She was arrested.:biggrin::biggrin:

Never had one thing come up missing, and we usually leave our cameras on the charging dock too plus our usual acessories but the Jewelry and watches and cell phones go in the safe as well as any Federally prescribed Pain Killers! :wink2:

Guess we don't have anything worth stealing lol. Or we have just been lucky. Common sense is all that is really needed.

I saw a show on Vegas. There was a sign posted in front ot the Volcano at the Mirage that said something like - "watch your wallet carefully". Almost everyone felt in their pocket for their wallet to make sure it was there - a tip off for pickpockets who now knew the location of the thing.

Never had anything lost in a cabin.

The candle story does make me think, however. I always take my travel iron which I know is verbotten in cruise cabins due to fire hazard. And I assume they want to make their $$ in pressing garments. I have left it out while it's cooling off and fortunately they never took it and left me a note about fire hazards!

I was pick-pocketed at Charles De Gualle airport in Paris. When we got to Customs, we were being herded thru like cattle, and when we got outside the airport to catch a bus to the train station (flew to Paris and then took the train to Touloise) I looked down, and my fanny pack was open and all the money taken. Luckily, they did not take my drivers license or credit cards and Greg had my passport - they just took all my cash, but I only had about $25 on me. We had done a money exchange at the airport in Chicago and Greg was carrying all the Euros. I never even felt anyone get into my fanny pack...
