Carnival Pride

This is my first post. We will be taking a cruise to the Mexican Riviera in October on the Carnival Pride. We are excited because friends of ours will be joining us. My husband and I have only taken one cruise and that was a 3 day cruise to Ensenada. Not real exciting!!!!! On this cruise we will be celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We really can't wait. Does anyone have any suggestions on the excursions? We don't want to be rushed, but would like to take at least 1 excursion during our trip.

Thanks so much for helping. I really enjoy reading all of the information from people that have actually taken the cruise.

Welcome to the group, Steph.

Is this the 7 day cruise you're going on to Puerto Vallerta, Mazatlan and Cabo? We've done it before, but years ago. We usually take the city tours, to get to know a place a little better, but I do remember my hubby and son went fishing on a little boat one day...could have been in Mazatlan. They didn't catch anything and said they wouldn't do it in Mexico again...the boats they took them out on were rickety. The kids went para-sailing in Cabo, and loved that.

If you can afford it, take an excursion in every port. Don't sit on the ship every day...there's plenty of time for that. But when you go somewhere you haven't been before, you should be exploring.

Welcome aboard Chamberbear. We loved our Pride cruise - perfect in every way.

We rode on the beach in Mazatlan with "Randi's Happy Horses" a truly memorable experience. Randi was a real hoot and very professional and informative. The horses were well cared for - which was a great surprise considering some we have seen. My favourite excursion so far.

In Cabo we went whale watching - not much in the way of whale sightings but a great close up look at Los Arcos and the resorts on the coast.

In Puerta Vallarta we did the El eden Jungle Tour - it was nothing special but nice all the same. We saw some gorgeous coastline en route and the area has quite a history - where Taylor and Burton filmed "Night Of The Iguana".

Any other Pride questions just ask.

I found Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta perfectly safe and we had no hesitation riding city buses, very inexpensively, to go wherever we wanted, except in Cabo, where we just walked to where we wanted to go. We seldom take excursions. I don't feel we see the real city when we do, just some tourist oriented expensive site. We do, however, manage to visit every Carlos and Charlies or Senor Frog's we have ever encountered. Till you do, don't ask. Grin!

I have a question about Randi's. On their website it states the tour starts at 8:30 (pick up at dock), but the "scheduled" time in this port is listed as 9:00am - 6:00pm. Was that an issue at all, or does the ship actually dock earlier than the time listed on the itinerary?

Thanks much -
