So my first 2 cruises were both on Royal Caribbean and I am a proud Crown and Anchor member but my question is this....

Do you stay with one company? Or do you try based on what the ships offer?

My friend, who happened to go one my first cruise (her second) just got back from a sail with Carnival and she loved it. So now I'm wondering if I should forsake the "goodies" they offer when you book your next cruise and go with a different company all together and try something new.

Any thoughts??

We've taken 23 cruises, on a combined 11 lines. (Four of these lines are no longer in business.) In the past five years, we've been on NCL (3x), HAL, Princess, Cunard, Celebrity, and Carnival. With the exception of Celebrity, the lines and ships were chosen solely for itinerary. For instance, two of the three NCL cruises were to Bermuda and left from a port within a short distance of our home.

We do get nice perks with NCL as we sailed them quite a bit in the 1990s, but that's not why we book with them. After our next cruise, we will go up a level in Celebrity's Captain's Club, but that likely won't influence future bookings, either. If itinerary isn't a deciding factor, there are lines we prefer more than the others, but they are not necessarily the ones we've been on the most. They just offer more of what we like.

In other words, we like having a variety of ships from which to choose.

It is just personal preferences. One isn't really better than another. Past passenger status doesn't influence me at all, and I've cruised 29 times. My personal opinion of Royal Caribbean is that they have great physical plants, and mediocre food compared to other lines. I expect to be wowed by the food. My choices are itinerary first, and who is available at the time I can go.

we've been on 4 different cruise lines on our 7 cruises. Though there are differences between the lines, I have yet to find a great difference between any of them. Our next cruise, will be on our 5th different line.

we also tend to chose by itinerary.

I agree with Keith & Rita...my loyalty is to cruising too, not to a cruise line. Every single one of our cruises has been wonderful. We've been on Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and NCL. It's a different experience each time we cruise.
