penny908
Hi all, I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has been affected by the displacement of passengers on the Norwegian Dawn that was sailing on July 7, 2007 out of NYC? I was told today that my cruise that I had booked back in September was now becoming a chartered cruise by Rosie O'Donnell and that I no longer had a cruise to go on. Needless to say I am dumbfounded and very angry. To top it off Norwegian's solution is to offer me a whopping $100.00 credit per cabin to go at another date. I explained that I could only go on this date. There answer was this is business. I said so the little person who saves and works hard always ends up on the short end. They said once again it is business. Has anyone else ever experienced this or perhaps was booked on this cruise? If anyone has any advise please let me know. Thanks for listening. penny908
Thank you, its just so dishearting to know this can happen. My cruise is leaving just not with the clientele that they want. Thats what upsets me the most. There will always be someone one out there with more money and more power then someone else, so they can just do what they want. I am waiting to see today what Norwegian will do, if they will book us on the other cruise that is leaving the 7th but for one extra day. Thanks for responding, it helps to know there are others out there.
PrincessOne
It is unfortunate, I agree. Rosie tends to do this about once a year or so. You could find out how to book with her group...The tickets are usually available to anyone...like the cruise to nowhere in FL she did. This does happen on other lines, not just Norwegian...it would really stink...I agree. Good luck with your cruise plans... D

jacketwatch
Of course this is very wrong. I am sorry this happened to you. However honestly its a blessing in disguise. The reviews I see about NCL are spotty and people whom I have spoken to about their past NCL cruises, i.e. former passengers, will stay FORMER! I do hope you get a full refund and use ot for another cruise. I also hope Rosies has some bad experiences on NCL and blabs it all over like she is so capable of. BTW there was something I read not too long ago about a small family group being bumped by MSC cruises to accomodate a larger business group and MSC's reply was equally apathetic. Again, sorry to hear of your experiences. Larry
Mebert
penny908, The same thing happened to me in 2004 when I was booked for the Carnival Jubilee. It was really disappointing because I wanted to sail on a small ship. I can really emphasize with you. I was really very angry because I just booked my flight a few days before I was informed about the cancellation. I have no advice except to try and book something during that same period at the same port. Unfortunately, the small print is usually in the cruise lines favor. I wish there were some law against the cruise lines inconveniencing passengers like that. I think the compensation should be even more or the cruise line should be responsible for rebooking transportation.
cruisetarp
Penny - So sorry this has happened to you. I am sure you are very disappointed and angry right now. I think their offer of $100 credit doesn't do anything to accommodate you for ruining your plans. jacketwatch - Since Rosie was just Godmother for the Norwegian Pearl I seriously doubt she will be bad-mouthing them on her show. Peddler
Looks like Norwegian has no class with the Rosie as a Godmother.
