sunshineangel1977
I have never been on a cruise. Price has always been a huge factor in cruising but with the prices low right now a group of freinds and i decided to go ahead and take a much deserved cruise. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to what excursions to take in cozumel and calica. price also is a factor in this we would like to keep it under $70.00 also. we are going on carnival Holiday september 10 this year. any recomendations would be appreciated. we also have 1 person who walks with a cane so that also needs to factor in. we would like to go to a beach at least once during our visit. thanks in advance, stephanie
DennaBeana
I have been to Cozumel two times. The first time I went ATV riding and I had such a good time! I think the cost was $80 a person. My friends went on a tour for about $40 which took them around the city and to the market. They also loved it. My sister went to the Ruins and Xel-Ha and LOVED IT but that was over $100. The water in Cozumel is unbeievabl so snokleing would be great too. I guess it all comes down to what you want to do. There are so many different types of activities offered. Cozumel is so nice. It's one of my favorite places
SMB
The Mayan ruins at Tulum are nice and easy to get around (mostly flat). You can cut the ship's tour price in half by going yourselves. The ferry to Playa del Carmen is $11 (45 minutes) each way. The bus ride from Playa to Tulum takes just over an hour in a nicely airconditioned and comfortable first class bus for only $3 - yes, THREE DOLLARS- each way! Tulum admission in only a few dollars. That means for about $30 you can have a nice half day excursion and still have time and money to shop, drink, and eat in Playa or Cozumel. Just watch your time and the ferry schedule! Have fun. KCCruzr
We have traveled to Cancun before and really enjoyed visiting Xel-Ha. We are cruising this time with our children and would like to go there again but not take the combined tour with Tulum from Carnival. We arrive in Calica. Any suggestions about the best way to manage getting there on our own. Not really familiar with where Calica is in relation to other areas there and what is available once we step off the ship. Am new to Cruise Crazies so any info would be wonderful. SMB--since you seem to understand the area could you elaborate more? We will be traveling with 3 children. It would be so appreciated. Suzila
We did the city tour in Cozumel, and it was okay. We were somewhat disappointed because we had the ruins scheduled originally (but that wouldn't be a tour for your friend w/ the cane), but we were there two weeks after a hurricane and they canceled the ruins tour because the ruins were ruined! LOL! The city tour was fine...they take you around in a trolley and show you all the homes, various streets, and take you to a small church ruins and souvenir place. It's the type of tour to do once...nothing spectacular.
KCCruzr
I am trying to get a sense of where Calica is? Do you need to get on a ferry to go to Playa del Carmen area from there?
