A mansion would be too big to take care of when we retire, so I'd stay where we are, and use the loot (there's going to be loot when we retire?) to cruise. As much as I love cruising, I still would only go once or twice a year. I want something to look forward to. If we were cruising all the time, it's not a novelty anymore.

We are retired. Living in a 3000 square ft. house with pool etc., in the entertainment capital of the world and we've taken a cruise or two (read 46), so I guess we have made our decision.

A residence ship would not be for us. A lot of the cruising fun in trying new ships.

Is it egotistical to be highly interested by your own question? Well, I am. So far, nobody has chosen to live at sea. I think that is interesting considering the bunch of cruisecrazies on this forum! The question then becomes "Who is buying on these residence ships?" I also think it is funny that, from the current rationals offered, there has not been an excuse of missing family or friends. I guess we know where they stand.

Weel SMB that is what I was going to say....I would miss the kids and grandkids too much. I think Mebert idea with the modest house and traveling is what we would do.

We went from a 2500 sq. ft house to a 1800 little ranch. We didn't need that big house anymore. I love my little ranch...no stairs, laundry room on first floor. I don't miss that big house at all and it gives me the freedom to more things in my spare time. Ken still has his workshop and pool table so he is happy......One day I hope to go even smaller into a condo so we would have no house worries at all.
