If you had the time would you go?<] For me i would in a heart beat. If i had the time. Even if i had to pay for the cruise also. I was just looking at this cruise at world cruises.com. It is a once a year cruise on the QE2 starting march 2008 Just wanted to know how many of you would go?
Jimmykaboots
I WOULD SO GO! But wow it's really expensive! I didn't take into considering the gratuities added together! Parking won't be a problem if you take a chaffeured limo or caddilac. Don't take limo, trust me, it takes forever to snake that long car into the loading terminal and its more expensive than a family style caddilac or sedan. Yes, I was reading about this world cruise too! I would go in a heartbeat if I could! Time is a major issue though I think, after money for most people. Shari2
I've always dreamt of a world cruise, but even if we won one we probably couldn't do it. You have to add to the cost the taxes on winning the cruise, too. If we could find a way to keep the taxes and expenses down we might be able to. Would love to go! DennaBeana
I'd go! I'd make it happen some how but with serious cuts. Like I'd have a friend drive me so I'd have no parking, I'd only drink/eat what was offered, Fewer excursions maybe even no insurance but I'd make it work. There are just some opportunities you have to take in life. Then again, I'm single with ties. I'd like to think that my job would work woth me but if they didn't.... there are other jobs. A cruise around the world is a life time opportunity that I don't think I'd ever be able to afford.
mercedes
My DH and I would go in a second, money would not be an issue, but vacation time would be, although we can always take time off without pay .
KeithnRita
Do to business commitments we would not get to go. It would be heart breaking, however, that's just the way it is. I guess we would just have to donate the prize to a member of CruiseCrazies.
Dan
To trim costs, first I would say that usually onboard gratuities are $10 pp/per day, so that cuts $900. You can add as you wish, but that's the base. I don't know why anyone would pay to park at the pier for 90 days. If you are close enough to drive, you can rent a car one way, or get family/friend to drive you. I'm not sure what the 32 ports at $100 per is, but we aren't shoppers, so this wouldn't be a factor, especially since a couple lines down is something about shore excursions. We also aren't drinkers, so that part would be cut back. But I do like the casino, and that's not factored in. So it would still probably cost us 10 grand. Factor that in with lost income, and the fact that most of the bills don't stop when you are away. Oh yeah, and our kids are 5 and we wouldn't want to be away from them that long. I'd love to do a world cruise (although not on the QE2), but can't see it being feasible for us.
Suzila
I enter sweeps all the time, and most times they are over-valued. The companies that sponsor sweepstakes never get the very best rate when buying something like a cruise, or a car, etc. So, while the cost of that cruise may start at $32,000, if you did some research, you could probably find a better price for the exact same thing. When the time comes for you to pay taxes, you would submit the actual cost of the trip, in writing, not the over-valued cost. Taxes on a trip like that depends on what your income/tax bracket is. Ours is over 35%. When I come upon a sweepstakes I am interested in that would cost us big bucks in taxes, I think long and hard about how badly I want that prize. Some of the extra costs you listed would not apply to me either. I wouldn't leave the car in the parking lot for that long. I'd arrange for another way to get to the port. There are no world cruises leaving from the Los Angeles ports, so that prize would have to include airfare for me too. We don't drink and have taken many a cruise where the only extras on our sail card were gratuities. No souvenirs bought onboard. I would want to buy souvenirs in the different ports, however. For a cruise valued at $32,000, that trip is going to cost me at least $11,000 (in taxes), and that's not counting any of the extras you listed. Your original post asked if time was not a factor, would you go....If the cost was the ONLY factor, knowing that $11,000 is a good price for a world cruise, I'd be leaning toward taking it. However, the cost would NEVER be the only factor. 90 days is a very long time to be away from the reality of life. I doubt we would take this trip. Mebert
If I could do something about my darn job, I would go in a heartbeat. I would find some way to cut costs, like not parking in the lot, very carefully choosing excursions, doing my own laundry, and finding out about attractions close to the port. The only thing I would have to worry about is the gratuities. $2700 is not bad at all for 90 days. The $11,000 in taxes would also be a consideration, but for 90 days, I think I could swing it somehow. It would be a cruise of a lifetime for me. Right now I could not afford to pay the regular fare, but I'd find some way to pay the gratuities and taxes.
JoeyandDavid
i would save a thousand off the top cause i wouldn't drive to the port.. and assuming the taxes are paid.. yeah we would go.... a cruise like that for us and the way we crusie would price out around 7500 for both of us so yeah we would
