SMB
We have joked about being left standing on the dock as our ship sailed away, but what if it really happens. Let's say that it is the end of day 4 of a 7 day cruise and you missed the ship by 30 minutes. What would you do?
Dan
I'm sure some swearing would be involved LOL.
jacketwatch
The logical thing would be to get to the next cruise stop asap. I would hope to have my cell with me so I'd call the cruise lines number to see what could be done and ask them to inform the ships capt. of your dilema. Give them your name and cabin #. You would have to arrange transport locally either by air or maybe a ferry boat if possible. This issue brings up the importance of having cash, ATM cards, credit cards and proper ID and passports on your person. Then hope for the best. mrsgauthier6
When we went on the Conquest this past year, we were in Cozamel, Mexico, there was a couple of people that ran late. We heard them calling their names out on the intercom and later when we were out on our balcony's we saw them being escorted onto the ship. I don't know if the cruise people went to find them or what but they made it back on the ship. I also heard (through the grapevine) that a couple of young adults were in a bar and lost track of time and missed the boat. I heard they had to rent a car and travel across the island to meet the boat again. I don't know for sure on any of these but my suggestion is.....be on time. I wouldn't want to find out for sure myself....lol.
Longboysfan
I don't think I have ever been close to being left on the pier. Aside from that Rum run with 20 minutes to go before we pulled out in St. Thomas. Thank goodness for Havensight!!!! We and my friend were the 4th and 5th to last back on the boat. We watched from the top rail as a young lady with crutches and her friends were the last three back. But if left you have to find the dock agent for the ship. They should be able to help you get to the next port.
Spikesgirl
The thought is a little scary and being as paranoid as I am, we usually take ship excursions so that I don't have to worry about it. However, if you're left, the only thing to do is get to the next port. We had a family of four that delayed our sailing out of Vietnam. The ship couldn't leave them because Vietnam has very strict immigration policies, so we had to wait. Ship's personnel were not happy with them when they boarded (they'd been at a beach). They were escorted off the ship at the next stop. Their waiters not were sad to see them leave. Apparently they were as late to dining as every thing ese. jacketwatch
Holy cow! What ship was this that removed a family of four just for being late? That seems very harsh.
Gregswife
Stephen, I don't know what I would do but I just had to laugh when I read your post...does it sound like someone we know here who runs that late????
