sailinglisa
It may seem harsh, but I bet the cruise line was hit with huge penalties by the Vietnamese government.........or it may have been their last chance and they had been warned previously about onboard infractions, etc.
sewut51
Last September, on the Ecstacy, a family at our table separated in Cozumel. The two young men, early twenties, didn't meet up with their parents who were waiting where you first show your sail & sign card to get on the dock. Turns out, they were already on the dock waiting where you board the tender. They all waited until the last tender, when the boys jumped on and went to the ship. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad were freaking out. They called the ship and, since the boys were still tendering in, they said they were not aboard. Now Mom & Dad are frantic and they have missed the last tender! They waited until the ship reported the boys aboard and got a ride to the ship with the guy who guides the ship out of port. The boys were late for dinner and Mom & Dad were hot. I guess you should be very specific on your meeting place if you split up ashore. sewut

txSherry
I'm so frightened of this situation that I am planning our excursions to have us back at least 2 hours before sailing! Could you imagine if we left our 7 year old on board at the Camp Carnival and got left on shore?!? ::passes out::
btate
I am usually the guy on about deck 7 looking over the edge at the couple who is running for the gangplank or had a tender that had only 2 people on it. It happens more than it should. I think that if you are on a ship booked excoursion and there is a problem on that excoursion, then I would expect a bit more leniency. Personally, I think more people should be left. This would make it so more people are not late. In the end, I suppose that I don't remember geting to my next port late because of someone being late to the last port. I guess it doesn't matter in the end.
