Today's Packaging

I have been really frustrated with trying to open packages with my bear hands.

It seems that packages today require chain saws, pliers, mallots, chisels, dynamite, or atomic bombs to get them open. The shrink wrap has no little string to pull to open the packages easily. CD's and DVD's have so many levels of wrapping that I have to take a nap after the struggle so that I can enjoy the music or the movie. Many times there are no instructions on how to open them.

What has happened to the packaging today? Do manufacturers want us to get to the product or are the products supposed to stay in the package and we docorate our homes with unattainable items.

There is some packaging that one gets open but it opens in such a way that one cannot use the package to store the remaining product.

Do others have as much trouble as I do with today's packaging?

Add me to the list of those that have trouble with todays packaging. Also, once you get the package open you better be happy with the product because there is no chance of repackaging it to return it if you are not.

I agree wholeheartedly. Those hard plastic containers that's used with electronic products are just impossible to get through. I guess that tampering has manufacturers wary, but now it seems that too many things are packaged this way.

Mebert, I agree with you. I usually give them to my DH to open, I have no patience

We've learned to keep a Leatherman handy for such tasks. it has a pair of pliers, knife, screwdrivers, etc. all in one. The only thing it isn't good for is getting label edges up. Such makes it easy on my arthritis.

I saw on the news recently that they have actually made a tool for opening those hard plastic containers. My luck, I wouldn't be able to get the package open to use the tool.

I agree, kids toys are the worst. they don't want that Barbie to move at all.

But light bulbs on the other hand Come in a flimsy cardboard sleve with holes in it so you can see the bulb???
