Love2Travel
Diane Thanks for the info on the Pride of Aloha. that is what I had heard. I am disppointed because after island hopping and taking flights from one island to another on our last trip to Hawaii, we thought this would be so relaxing. But, we love to cruise and do not want to have a bad time. For us having seen the islands-this would have been one of the parts we would be looking forward to. I've seen the Napali Coast by Helicopter. Beautiful. would have loved to see tha lava flow into the ocean but I think we will pass. I wish another line would do the same itinerary. oh well. Take care and again thanks for sharing. say hi to lou.... Gail ps Kauii was our favorite island. must have been nice to spend a week. zebra
Hi Gail, Isn't researching the next cruise sooooo exciting?? We did a Transatlantic to Lisbon, Portugal and stopped at the Azores islands. My goodness what an experience - in all our travels to many, many countries in the world, this was the ONLY place (The Azores) that we didn't encounter one person that could speak English! We felt like we'd stepped back into a time warp - they are light years behind anyone living on other islands...... a very interesting experience! Say Hi to Paul from us. chachabell
NCL has the monopoly on the Hawaii itinerary. Special legislation was passed. I think the ships are required to be registered in the US All other lines must stop in a foreign port (most do the Fanning Islands). It is sad to say but I think part of the problems are because they are required to have a US staff and must abide by US labor laws. NCL is constantly training new staff because US help can't (or won't) work as hard as foreign workers.
