Mebert
I just noticed that there will be an adjourning door in my stateroom. I tend to leave the TV set on all night. Do you think it will disturb my neighbors in the adjourning room? I don't want people knocking on the wall at night. The TV thing is a city habit I have because I can't take complete silence at night. If I'm in a big city, there's no problem because of the noise factor. Any ideas or shortcomings of an adjourning stateroom?
Gregswife
Mebert, I have never had a room on a ship with adjoining doors. Have had them in hotels and I don't think they is any more of a noise factor than with a wall there. I wouldn't think your tv would disturb your neighbors unless it was absolute blaring, and I doubt that you would do that, so I think you should be fine. Hopefully someone who has had the door between cabins will be able to address the situation from experieince.
mercedes
On our first cruise, we had an adjoining room, the noise factor was nil. We never heard the TV or our neighbors.
Mebert
Gregswife and mercedes, Thanks for the information. I feel a lot better. I think I'm going to push a chair up against the adjourning door. I've seen too many Alfred Hitchcock movies.
mercedes
I think you will be pretty safe, they are locked from both sides
Sunbeam
I just came back from the Century and I had an adjoining stateroom with a suite. I heard a few voices for a few seconds and only once: it was a couple with 2 teenagers. I was scared also that I was not going to be able to sleep, after having read horror stories. Everything was fine. I think you will be alright, as long as the TV is not on full blast. Don't worry about the doors, they are looked on both sides and I think to get them open you have to talk to your cabin stewart as he/she are the ones that have a special key to open them. Enjoy your cruise.
Mebert
mercedes and Sunbeam, Thanks for the reassurances regarding security. I won't be blasting the TV set. I just need a little sound in the room to get to sleep. Don't worry, I can take a hint. I promise that I'll be considerate. Afterall, I have to represent Cruise Crazies all around the world.
