jaschem1
I have mixed emotions about the Costa Magica. I loved the Europeon people and the Italian food. The casino and the entertainment was great, but 3,000 people onboard was a little too much. I might take another Costa Cruise later, but not soon. You really need to want to eat food that is different. This ship does not really cater to the American appetite. The balcony stateroom was really big and nice. The things I was not crazy about were; the hallways sometimes smelled like sewer, there was no Texas Holdem tables in the casino like we liked on the Celebritys with tournaments, the jacuzzis were warm, not hot, the breakfast room service menu was just Continental breakfast, we always had a full breakfast in our rooms on other ships, and when we booked, we paid for two excursions. Our final bill included a second charge for those excursions. My husband said we paid for them when we paid for the cruise and to take it off our bill. They said they could not do that, we had to go thru our Travel Agent and our credit card company. That was a little too much. The cruise was fun and nice, but we were a little disappointed. Gregswife
I am sorry you had some disappointments on your cruise. I have never sailed on anything but Carnival. Hopefully your next criusie will be wonderful. After reading your post, I think I will steer clear of the Costa Magica...

zebra
Welcome back...thanks for the info - yes I've heard that and more about Costa.... I prefer the cruiselines that cater to us Americans. The only real positive I heard was that the "Toga" party is fantastic.
jaschem1
Seriously, I found the Toga party dull. Only half the people wore sheets and there was absolutely no show to go with it. People just wore them to dinner the last night. There was a dining room show in the middle of the week. I really enjoyed all the Europeon travelers. It was great fun talking and dining with them. Usually out of Puerto Rico, our ship is full of Puerto Ricans. We had to go to Fort Lauderdale to catch this cruise. Everyone on the ship spoke English, even most of the cruisers. Lots of teeny weeny bikinis The food was good, but a lot of different servings. There was a Mexican and a Greek buffet. It was fun for a change. The casino was fun. I played Caribbean Poker every night and when I did play the slots, they paid off good. John missed the Texas Holdem tournaments. He always spends early mornings in the jacuzzis and the warm water was a disappointment. Everyone on the ship said they had a great time and to try the Costa Mediterranian next time. A better Costa ship. This ship was supposed to have an Aqua Spa, but the water was warm in there too. Otherwise, we had a great time. Good food, people and entertainment.
