On our first cruise, which was to the Bahamas, right by the ship, there was a guy diving down and bringing up these huge conch shells (I think that is what they are called). Then he would paint "Nassau Bahamas" on them. Our kids each wanted one, so we bought 2. When we got back on the ship, we saw several of them sitting on top of trash cans. When we got back to the room, we figured out why. Those things had the most awful stench. We tried washing them out, to no avail. So we got back off the ship and went to the closest store and bought bleach, which we poured into them and let them sit. Thank God, it did get rid of the mell. They truly smelled like something had died in there.

Cheryl - I guess something did die in there lol. I know I have picked up seashells at the beach with my "Little Sister" and they started to stink after a few days. I kept them out in the garage - but after the stinkies - I let her take them home lol.

I have purchased smaller, decorative shells and no one seemed to mind that I brought them on board - but I guess each port would have its own rules.

Question of the day!

It is your second cruise, the first one you got a bit sea sick so you get a cabin in the middle of the ship down low, oceanview.

You just find out you got an up-grade to the aft, 5 decks up in a balcony! do you take the up-grade or stay down low in an ocean view?
