lock luggage?

I read some where that you are suppose to lock your luggage that the porters take to your cabin. Is that true? At the airports the luggage has to be unlocked so they can be searched. I would hate to have my luggage delayed or destroyed because it was locked.

I use colored zip ties to lock my luggage at the airport. I usually do not check bags at the cruise terminal. I can pack for a 7 day in 1 pull cart and a packpack so I just carry it on myself. That way I have all my lugage with me. If I do have to check bags at the terminal I just use the colored zip ties like at the airport.

We always lock ours. Just get the TSA locks and the airport security can unlock them, if needed, without damage to your luggage. We have never had any issues with our locked luggage at the pier. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry, I'm very new to all this. Can you tell me what TSA locks are? Is it anything like the ones the luggage comes with? Also, where can I find them? I truly appreciate all the help you all have been giving me!

you can find them for sure at Target, and I would imagine at Walmart as well.

As others have said walmart target kmart almost everyone these days carry them .. this is what you are looking for

Just make sure the package says TSA on it. I got one at Penney's and paid $10 for it and then discovered that WalMart has them for 1/2 that price. Pam. my husband wishes I could pack as lightly as you - it usually takes me 2 large suitcases plus a carry on and I put my formal night clothes in his garment bag.

We used TSA locks last yr. but upon our arrival in Papeete one of the three was missing. I wonder if all intl. airports have keys for these locks.
