JohnG
I was able to download our flight arrangements to Tahiti from the Princess site today (75 days out). My wife says it is time for her to start packing? Gosh, it is warm enough there we don't need to wear much, right? At least that's what I'm trying to tell her. Really looking forward to this one. It is a long flight from the east coast. Looks like about 20 hours with connections going, and about 16 hours coming back. But we have 10 days there to rest up, and Labor Day when we get back to rest. Getting excited about this one.

jacketwatch
Hi John. We were on that ship last August so I know how you must feel. Those are the most beautiful islands I have ever seen. You will enjoy it for sure. On Raiatea we trekked inland on a 4X4 and honestly the unspoiled natural beauty is unbelievable. Just gotta wait a bit. hazelson
John - it sounds wonderful!!!!! The thought of all those hours in a plane gives me hives though lol. I don't mind flying just don't like enclosed spaces. :o) Let us know how you get along with your "Gosh, it is warm enough there we don't need to wear much, right?" idea - wouldn't wash with me lol. jacketwatch
Hi John. That is the exact itinerary we had. You can stay on the ship until evening departure BUT you have to vacate your room by 1000. We chose to get a day room in Papeete so we could relax, sleep, shower, etc. This turned out to be a very good move too. Otherwise you have to spend all that time on the ship but you can't stay in your cabin. Have a great one. Larry
Spikesgirl
John, this was the most incredible cruise we were ever on - we loved the size of the ship. it was big enough to have your space, but small enough so that we got to know crew and fellow passengers. The water is so warm, it's like swimming in a tepid bathtub and the snorkeling was the best we've found to date on either coast. As for temps, you're heading there during the hot season, which means it'll rain every other day instead of every day *grin*. Loose cotton is the way to go, although I have never seen as many tuxes and gowns for formal night as I have there. Shorts and tee shirts work well during the day, resort casual was more casual than resort. make sure you take along some bug repellent if you're doing anything that takes you inland, really good sun block, and your sense of awe because you will use all three. Have an incredible cruise and let us now about all the details when you get back! Charlie
jacketwatch
Our cruise there ws last yr. Aug. 15 and as you are in the southern hemisphere its their winter which means its in the mid to high 80's and dry. The locals say the seasons are "hot" and "hotter' See the weather link for details. http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather...3919&refer= The bugs left us alone. Must have been my cologne
