dawson21
Three days to go before we sail and I'm having trouble sleeping. So much to do.....so many unknowns (first cruise). Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal? Or am I weird (be nice, I am new to all this)? Is there a cure??
cruisetarp
Carla - there is no known cure for pre-cruise anticipation other than to just bide your time, recheck your packing list and wait. LOL You are not weird - we will be going on cruise #28 in August and I am just as excited about the upcoming one as I was for the first. What ship are you going on and what are the ports? One word of warning - once your cruise is over you will suffer from another problem - PCD (Post cruise depression). The good news is there is a cure for that - you simply book another cruise and begin the anticipation all over again.\ Have a great time - sit back, relax and enjoy. dawson21
we are going to the Eastern Caribbean. ports are San Juan, St. Thomas, and Tortola. have excursions booked to St. Thomas and Tortola. Thanks for the warning about the post cruise depression Maybe all the work I have to do around the house upon returning will help prevent some of it Already have an idea for the next cruise if this works out the way we hope. will keep you posted. thanks again for everything. carla

rogue
You may be a little nervous about it, but the moment you step on the ship, most of that will turn into amazement. When you get to your cabin and drop off your carry-ons, go out and walk around and feel the excitement of a new adventure. At that point, you will have lots of trouble remembering the feelings you have today. Enjoy.
Spikesgirl
Here's an early Bon Voyage! to you. Relish each moment that you have leading up to your first cruise because you'll never have another first cruise. Our first was magical, even if we did have a tiny cabin with twin beds bolted to the floor. Even now, while aniticpating the next cruise, it's just not the same. have a wonderful time and make sure you let us know all about it when you get back! Gregswife
Carla, I assure you that the anticipation will turn into immense excitement when the time comes. I was a little bit nervous, starting a few days before our first cruise. It was really just a fear of the unknown. Our maiden voyage was on the Fantasy, which sailed out of Port Canaveral. On the way to the port, we were stopped at a draw bridge that was up, so we had to wait a few minutes. To the right, we had a great view of the ship and as I sat there and looked at it, all of fears vanished and I could not wait to set foot on it. From the very first minute onboard, I was totally hooked. I look forward to hearing your impressions upon your return. Have a great time - how could you not - you'll be on a cruise!!! hazelson
Carla - if what you are experiencing is not normal - then we are all abnormal as well. "ANTICIPATION - it's making me wait ........" Believe me - after you get on that cruise ship the very first thing you will want to do once you are home is book the next one. It's an addiction - but a wonderful one. Take care, relax and pack!!!!!
