oceanblue58
I am an overweight 40ish woman and in good health but worry that the falls will be to much to climb. How fast is the pace going up the falls and how long does it take? I am not a wimp but wouldn't want to embarrass myself LOL
TheSkipper
I was over 50 when we did the falls. No one in the group had a problem. Water quite cold, but other than that a piece of cake.
sailingrose
There is a staircase that goes along side of the falls for a while in the beginning so you do have an out if you feel like it is too much.
MrsAmanda7
While on our last cruise, we watched a video of our fellow cruisers going through the falls. It seems like everyone had an excellent time. Did I regret not doing the excursion? No, that would not have been for us. Like I said in another post, we enjoy making the day life the night life in the ports we visit. Going back to the video, again people had the greatest time. My only concern is I was watching the tape and a person fell. Don't worry! They did not fall hard, did not get hurt, and laughed the whole time. I have a point/question. To those who have visited the falls: Should people wear water shoes? Would this have prevented the person from falling? (In case I need to know for the future.) sailingrose
You should definately wear water shoes! The rocks are slippery and some are sharp. My DD fell even in water shoes.
oceanblue58
Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts. I have read many posts that suggest water shoes, which I will definately be wearing. I just healed from a fractured ankle and hope that I have rebuilt the strength in it before October. How cold is the water. Is it numbing cold? boba
I'm an overweight 49 year old and I've climbed the falls twice in the last 3 years. It's not bad and everyone else helps you. In fact I'm doing it again in about 45 days. Definitly wear water shoes. You'll have a great time.
