Hello, I purchased my cruise many months ago (HAL inside passage) and am leaving for Seattle tomorrow! I pushed the cruise out of my mind until the last minute so I could go on with work, but now I realize I don't know some very basic things! One of the things I am puzzled about is that the ship will stop at different cities, and I assume we have the option of coming and going to and from the ship. Hope I am right; and are we free to go back and forth more than once? I did not purchase any shore excursions, so what if I get bored, tired or hungry and need to go back to my "home" while we are docked? Thanks if anyone can clue me in on this very basic question!

We have never been to Alaska, but in other ports, we are free to come and go as we please. We sometimes return to the ship several times during the day, to drop off purchases and grab some lunch, then back out and at it again.

Good question, SeaLady. Yes, the ship is your"home" and you are free to come and go as often as you like. Just make sure you always have your identification with you - your card /key that is issued aboard and your driver's license or passport- I always take card and license just to be on safe side. Also, make sure you are back on the ship at least 30 minutes before the ship is due to depart. The ship will take off without passengers that are not on time. It does happen all the time. Again, have a fabulous cruise, SeaLady , and hope to hear all about it when you return.

:cool2: Welcome Sealady! You are free to come and go as you please. Also as Alaska is an incredible place forscenery do look into some tours either from the ship or outdide companies. Cheers, Larry
