Sorry should have explained...... We sailed HAL and the stop was Guatemala. We elected to walk to the flea market and walk back. Armed guards all along the roads. They sent the children to beg.......(worse than the straw market in Nassau) Bought the kids a wooden flute, and got a plate that said Guatemala and pretty much ran back to the ship. Very Very uncomfortable. My kids Orthodontist was also on the cruise and he took a tour, they had an armed guard with them the entire bus trip. Turns out the tour buses had been getting robbed.

It's a shame because it looked wonderful but if this native NYer gets scared, it's a stay on the ship port.

I can see your point.... what i don't understand why does th cruiselines insist on stopping in such ports... you would think there could be alternate sites that could accomplish the same goals...

Two bad experiences Freeport bahamas(way to industrial) and labadee,Haiti(I almost got robbed!!!

Jamaica and Nassau. Don't care much for Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, and have been to Nassau way too often. Didn't even get off the last time I was there.

Brady121291 how did that happen? We have been many times to Labadee and never had an issue. We love it there but would appreciate knowing a little more about this.

The only port I havn't liked so far was Montego Bay, Jamaica. Kind of creepy and everywhere you turned someone was asking for money.
