[*]First cruise...lovely and enjoyable and now I am hooked!!

Description<] ::

Eastern Caribbean

Went with another couple that has cruised before. This was the first cruise for my husband and me. We thought everything was wonderful. We had a balcony room and used it everyday and especially when coming into ports of call. The only downfall is that it seemed like there was ALOT of kids on the ship. This would not have been an issue, however they were ramming around on the elevators and spilling stuff in the elevators with no parents in sight or care for the ship. I am a parent, and I felt the need to say something to security. They basically said that "we can't be everywhere on the ship, so pick up a phone and call if u see this again". Just had the air about them, that they really did not want to be bothered. This didn't ruin the cruise at all....but everyone wants to know if there were any negatives and this is the only thing I can find!!! So I guess that is a good thing, lol. We were not home 24 hours and I was online looking for our next cruise....I am officially hooked!!.....Lynn

Lynn - So glad you enjoyed your first cruise and are already looking for your 2nd. Cruising during the summer and also during school break times can be a challenge with large number of kids onboard. It is frustrating when the lines do not enforce their own rules but I'm happy you did not let the kids ruin the cruise experience for you. Welcome to the club of Cruise Crazies!!

Lynn, so glad you enjoyed your first cruise - but then again, how could you not??? We used to cruise in the summer when the kids were young, but as they are now grown, we have cruised in the fall for the past 7-8 yrs.

Hi, glad you enjoyed your first cruise. I was on the Miracle in October and it was the worst of all the Carnival cruises I have been on. The service wasn't as good as on past Carnval cruises. If you don't like a lot of kids on a cruise why don't you try going in October or in April or May when school is in session then you won't have to deal with a lot of kids. When school is in session then you won't have many kids to deal with.

Welcome to the wolrd of cruising. After 50 cruises, I'm still always looking for another one!

The "Kid" issue is as others have said usually "date related." I screwed up last May and hit Spring Break with out even thinking about it. Ran into pretty much what you did. We were aboard the Glory on that trip.

Take it from "The Skipper" you will never forget your first cruise, regardless of how many you take over the coming years. The kid annoyance will fade quickly and you will be left with all the fantastic memories. :biggrin:

So, what are you thinking about for your next cruise adventure??

Welcome, Lynn. Thanks for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the cruise. Like the Skipper says, first cruises are special, but cruising never will lose its appeal. Book your next cruise soon! :biggrin:

Welcome to the cruise world Lynn - great to see you posting here.

As others have said... timing is everything. We also got "burned" by making the mistake of cruising during the school holidays. We actually had 3 young teens in the cabin next to us (while their parents were down the other end of the ship!!!) They would lie on the beds and kick the wall between our cabins and would also go in and out of the cabin 100 times a day slamming the door. I eventually confronted them on one of the occasions that they were running up and down the hall way and told them this was a warning, after which I was going to notify security - they "tried to behave" after that.

Enjoy cruising!!!
