marathon53
I would like to know the best options to book a cruise for 5 family members
rogue
Welcome to CruiseCrazies, Marathon53. I've never booked a cruise for that many, but If I were going to do it, I would go through a Travel Agent. There are probably members who have booked for larger families who can give you a better answer. Anyway, keep on posting.
CanadianCruiser
Welcome to Cruise Crazies Marathon53 I am not sure of what you are really asking, What is the best cruiseline? Cabin type? Also knowing the ages can help in giving you some advice. Lisa
JohnG
Carnival's older ships, the Fantasy Class and the Triumph and Victory regularly accommodate 5 in a stateroom. The fifth bed is a rollaway. Royal Caribbean Voyager class an Freedom class ships have Family Oceanview staterooms that will accommodate up to 6, and Royal Family Suites that will hold up to 8....but the Royal's are few and sell out a year in advance. These staterooms will provide an alternative and less expensive way than booking two adjacent or adjoining staterooms. When you book two cabins the 1st and 2nd person in both cabins pay the full price, and the reduced price is only for the 3rd person (of 5). In the Carnival cabins and the RCCL Family cabins the 1st and 2nd pay full price, and the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pay a reduced price. You cannot book a cabin for 5 through most online sites, other than Carnival ships, because they have to put 4 on one booking and the rest on a second booking. Disney is the other line that has a capacity of 5 in their Family Balcony staterooms, and the reduced price for 3rd, 4th, and 5th apply. GalaxySilver
Make sure that you check your total both ways. I've seen instances where it only saves $50 to go in a family room. Yes the 3rd, 4th and 5th are paying less but sometimes the family cabin is MORE expensive so the 1st and 2nd pays more. I've known people who think its actually worth it to have 2 rooms just to make it more comfortable for the people in the room. 5 in a room can be a lot especially with only 1 bathroom and considering it may be on par to get 2 cabins. Just make sure to check out all your options. HTH
jacketwatch
If you have decided on a cruise then booking it depends on where you can get your best price. Is that the question or are you looking for more? Cheers, Larry
