CanadianCruiser
Carnival Cruise Lines is about to join the ranks of companies offering passengers who pass through Orlando International Airport an easier way to check their bags. Airport officials say Carnival will launch a program next month at Port Canaveral in which cruise passengers who are about to complete their voyage will be able to check their bags and obtain airplane boarding passes while still aboard their ship. Carnival will have the bags delivered directly to Orlando International Airport, where they'll be screened away from the main terminal before being loaded onto planes. The next time a customer sees their checked bags -- assuming nothing goes awry, of course -- will be at their home airport's baggage claim. A Carnival spokesman confirmed that the cruise line is preparing such a program. "This is something we're working on and hope to introduce later this summer on one of our Port Canaveral-based ships on a trial-run basis," spokesman Vance Gulliksen said in an e-mail. Other major cruise companies, including Royal Caribbean International and Disney Cruise Lines, already offer passengers similar baggage programs. Link To Orlando Senitinal Disney has offered the baggage program for a few years now, and it is a great idea.
