cruisetarp
Ken - my heart goes out to you and your family . What a terrible, horrifying experience to go through. Please hold your loved ones tight and try and tell you children that these "animals" were the exception to the rule and the world is in fact full of some very nice people. I would appreciate hearing if Carnival ever comes through with some Counseling for all involved or if this is the case of "We have your money, your cruise is over, now go away"

kwilliams6045
I want to thank everyone on this post for being so kind and understanding. I have posted this information on several sites and found some very nice people, but I have found some that do not understand and blame me for not doing more research about Jamaica. I do feel silly now that I did not do more research prior to the trip, but I fell into th trap that I believe many first time cruisers do, we trusted in the cruise ship and their extensive knowledge of the ports. I actually believed that they did do extensive research into the areas where the excursions take place. This incident got a lot of coverage and then,. and only then, did Carnival agree to pay for 6 counseling sessions with my children, we will pick up the cost for the rest. They have also paid for some counseling for me and my wife. Our family is doing better. My and son and I are experiencing the worst. My son has been seeing the robber in his room at night and I have nightmars about every three nights. We cannot go into public area very late, becuase my son becomes very excited and scared, therefore, we just leave and try to get him out of any situaution that raises his anxiety. He is a great kid and I know he will get better with time. I am just not the same anymore. I have been in several stressful situautions, but I have never been in one, where I nearly lost my family and that is what eats me alive. Be completely vunerable. It helps for me to write this and get it out. It really helps when I get responses from people like you. I know I made poor choices to not research Jamaica before we went, but there is nothing I can do to change that. Thanks for understanding and carring. You all are very special people and have touched me in a positive way. These words are coming from a 17 year police officer, who had thought all of his feelings had gone away, but and incident like this and coorespondence with people like you bring them back. I cannot thank you enough. You have know idea how much you have done for me with just a few kind words. I hope GOD blesses you all.

Gregswife
Ken, my heart goes out to your and your family. As a parent (and grandparent), I cannot even begin to imagine the anguish and helplessness you must have felt. I will pray that all of you recover emotionally from this traumatizing ordeal. Thank you for sharing - our next cruise is on the Conquest and after reading your accounting of the events, we are now considering staying on the ship when in Montego Bay. Please know that many prayers are being said for you and your loved ones.
rogue
I really don't know what the right words are to say in a case like this. There are not many people that can really relate to what you and your family have gone through. Anybody who blames you for this is just plain nuts. Obviously, this incident was not picked up in the US media or, I'm sure that more than one of us on this board would have heard about it. If you didn't post your message, there may be some people who may not think that Jamaica was as bad as it is, even if they did research it. You and your family will be in our prayers.
